Lacey's Kitchen

The Kitchen was the biggest project of our whole remodel! We turned the previous owners porch into our kitchen. It may seem a bit weird but we turned the original kitchen into a mudroom. The kitchen was right off the garage so it made much more sense to put a mudroom where the original kitchen was and bring the kitchen to the back of the house where the porch was. I'll just shut up and let the pictures do the talking ;)

Here is what the original kitchen looked like (this area is now the mudroom) BUT as you can see it is very old, and worn down. It had all original appliances! I mean just look at the french door oven! As it was somewhat sad to gut this whole room of all the original "charm", it had to happen.

And this is what the room we moved the kitchen to looked like before...

Nearly standing in the same spot 7 months later...

THIS is the "After".....!

The vaulted wood ceiling really gives the Kitchen a warm, open and cozy cottage feel! As you can see the ceiling is original to the home but we touched up the white beams and gave the wood a fresh poly glaze finish to really richen the wood color. We chose to put in a corner farm sink because of the original placement of the windows! We also ended up shortening the windows to the height of the counters, which still gives the kitchen a lot of natural light! All of these cabinets are custom made and I couldn't be happier with them! My dream was always to have a bright all white kitchen and I can't believe it has happened! I love the look of marble counter tops, but it was just too darn expensive and a little too high maintenance. I ended up finding this gorgeous white and grey speckled quartz counter top. The back splash is white subway tile with a white grout. I still need to get stools but I have yet to find some that really tickle my fancy ;)

The chandelier is from Magnolia Market's Online shop. I wanted something that would work with the rustic wood ceiling but still be white and bright. The light above the sink is from Lowe's as well as the light above the kitchen table. Lowe's surprised me with their super cute lighting options that came with amazing prices!

Now here is the "Before" picture of the kitchen table area. The previous owners actually have their kitchen table in the same spot we do but the kitchen is now in a completely different location :)

It may be a bit confusing to understand the layout, but the dry wall behind the China Hutch was where the old kitchen island was. And behind the dry wall is now the Mudroom/Laundry room which was where the kitchen had been previously.

Get the Look!

Most of my kitchen furniture is actually from antique stores or hand me downs but I have sourced some similar pieces!

Here are some original sources that are not found in case you are curious :)

China Hutch: Antique Shop Table: Old hand me down (stained grey) Chairs: Hand me down from my Grandma (painted white and reupholstered with curtains from Target) Wooden Chandelier above island is from Magnolia Market but unfortunately they no longer sell this light.

And there is the Kitchen Makeover in a nut shell!! Hope it made sense since it was quite the BIG change to switch locations of the kitchen! I will update with more before and after pictures soon!
