Our 2018 Resolutions!

It's 2018! We can't even believe it! We wanted to share our 2018 resolutions as our first post of the year! We not only want to share our resloutions for our blog but for our personal lives as well!

This year we want to post as much as possible and we really want to share a glimpse into our lives. We are hoping to share more personal posts as well as lifestyle posts and of course more home decor!

As for overall resolutions, we have a theme for this year, and the theme is Discipline. No matter what our resolutions and goals are, it takes discipline to achieve them.

Resolution #1 Spread kindness and positivity.

We hope to do this on all of our socials and on our blog but we want to do this in our daily lives as well. One act of kindness a day is a goal. Going out of our way to do something for someone else can be quite difficult. This takes the focus off of us and puts it on someone else, someone else who's day could be made!

Resolution #2 Become Minimalistic

We struggle with constantly buying things we think we need. We want to streamline the amount of stuff we buy and bring into our homes. In the moment we think things will satisfy us, and it might, but only for a short time. The goal is to find happiness not in stuff, but in the people we love and our Lord Jesus Christ. Becoming minimal takes the focus off stuff and puts it on people, hobbies, and the important things in life.

Resolution #3 Get Fit, Get Lean, Eat Clean

I'm sure we can all relate to this resolution but we really want to get into the best shape of our lives this year! Not for anyone else but ourselves. It feels so good to fit into an old pair of skinny jeans and to accomplish fitness goals you never thought you could. Eating whole plant based foods give us so much more energy and improves our mood. We are saying no to packaged junk food and yes to fresh fruits and vegetables!!

All of our resolutions take discipline; this one word will be the over arching theme of the year. We need discipline to post on the blog 3 times a week, to spread kindness, to not buy things we don't need and of course, hitting the gym and eating whole foods!

So here's to 2018, may we become our best selves through hard work and discipline!

Until next time,

XO

5 Easy DIY Gift Ideas for the Holidays!

Hi friends! Today we are sharing some last minute DIY gift ideas for the holidays! I find DIY gifts best for those people who already have everything or if you are just trying to save money and want to give something sentimental. I have have given so many DIY gifts in the past and they are always a hit and the most memorable gifts. Let's jump right in to the easiest DIY gifts ever ;)

5 Easy DIY Gift Ideas for the Holidays!

1. DIY Mugs - Last year I took some paint markers that were dishwasher safe and wrote french words on 4 mugs that I bought at Target and gave them as a gift to my mom. She loves french words and any type of dish-ware! This was super easy and she loved it! You can make this Holiday themed by writing anything you want! "Merry Christmas Darling," "We Wish You A Merry Christmas," "Silent Night, Holy Night" ...you get the idea!

2. Vouchers- This is a classic go-to for me. This is one you can get really personal and creative with! If you are gifting to someone who is super messy, create a voucher for "a day of organizing" or "clean-out closet voucher." This way you are giving your time and energy! Here are a few more voucher ideas: "cooking lesson voucher," "1 hour foot rub," "Room makeover," "knitting session," "Bowl with Me" "Ice Skate and Hot Cocoa Night"...the possibilities are endless!! Here is little example of a voucher I made and printed off. To make it even more handmade I mounted it on a piece of colorful paper!

3. Handwritten Quotes- If you can draw or even just write, gifting a bible verse or favorite quote for a loved one to hang in their home is so special. You can buy 10 x 10 canvas's at a craft store or you can write on a normal piece of paper and frame it! To me, handwriting is so personal and special. You really can't go wrong with this one! Here is one that I painted last year for my mom's Birthday. I went all out with some oil paints but you can go much simpler with it too!

4. Framed Scrapbook Page- This is a fun one! Have you ever scrapbooked before? Well, we used to do it all the time and we would go all out! We would decorate a single page in tons of stickers and glitter and of course photos! Since scrapbooking isn't as popular as it once was I find this to be a fun, nostalgic gift to give. You can either frame an old scrapbook page you created way back when or decorate one page with some great photos and then frame it! Make it super crazy and funky with old polaroids, glitter, perhaps a funny quote or the date and time of the photos. This will make a perfect sentimental gift! To make this Holiday themed you can simply use holiday themed stickers, and pictures from previous Christmas's. Here is an old one from our family scrapbook! It's so 1990's and we love it!

5. Holiday Treat Kits - One last DIY idea thats a bit more festive is a holiday cookie kit or hot cocoa kit. Assemble the dry ingredients of your favorite cookie recipe into a large mason jar, make a tag with instructions and what wet ingredients to add! For the hot cocoa kit you can make this super cute with a DIY mug, cocoa powder, candy canes wrapped with a bow, and of course marshmallows! You could add in a cute tray with this so they can set up their own hot cocoa station!
