Kim's Living Room

I recently redecorated my living room. After ten years it was time for a change. Do you know the design experts say you should change your décor every eight to ten years in order to stay current? You don’t have to spend a lot of money to do it either! If you keep your basic furniture pieces neutral you can make a big change wth a little paint and new accessories.

Our living room wasn’t bad, but I wanted to lighten up the furnishings and bring in a little bit of a cooler color pallet.  The main problem and challenge in the room was the furniture arrangement because of the antique upright piano. I loved the character of this piano but being that I had bought it for only $50 fifteen years ago, I wasn’t too broken up about seeing it go. I gave it to a good home and started rearranging the furniture. Immediately the room felt like it had better balance. We painted the walls “Amazing Gray” by Sherwin Williams and then replaced the old carpet, which was damaged due to pet stains. I was lucky enough to find a white tufted sofa at Homegoods, new white curtains at Bed, Bath and Beyond and the piece de resistance... A white baby grand piano on Craigslist!! The room has finally come together and I love it now!

Here is the "Before"....

And here is the "After!"
