Restyle and Refresh for 2017: 7 Great Living Room Design Ideas

Design Ideas & Trends for 2017.png

Wow guys, it's 2017. It's a little sad that this is our first post of the year and it's already mid January but to be honest this new year came so quick and just got ahead of us. In the first week of the New Year Kim took a mini vacation to Marco Island, Florida and Lacey was out sick with a terrible fever and cold, so needless to say we are a little behind on our posts for this month! But no worries because we are back and we are so excited for the new year. There is a great feeling in knowing we can always start fresh and create new goals for ourselves and our lives. There is beauty in rebirth and we are ready for 2017 to be one of our best years yet!

Today we teamed up with some fabulous bloggers to bring you some fresh ideas on how to restyle your living room for the new year!  If you're coming over from Kathleen at Lindsay Hill Interiors, welcome, we are so glad you're here! We just love Kathleen's gorgeous home and her clean, fresh aesthetic!

We did some research on what the trends are going to be in 2017 and incorporated them into Lacey's living room restyle. To see Lacey's living room before the restyle click HERE.

Most of the items we used to restyle the living room was either found at the thrift store or on sale. If you keep your eyes open you can find great things that'll transform a room on a budget!  So lets get this party started!

Design Trends for 2017:

Greenery:

One of the biggest trends we are going to see is greenery. Whether it is faux or real 2017 is gonna be all about the greens! We incorporated some succulents, real and faux greenery but for a more modern look hanging plants, vines, and cacti/ succulents are all the rage. 90% of the greens you see in these pictures are from the thrift store! The beauty of thrift stores is that the old things you find are so often coming back in style and just need a little TLC and proper styling!

Texture:

Texture is another big trend for 2017. We mixed fur, fringe, velvet, and crochet cable knit and we are loving it. Texture creates a dynamic look and gives the room a cozy feel!

Gold and Marble:

Okay, so this next trend is already pretty big but its staying big in 2017 and thats gold and marble! It just looks so elegant and you can seriously find some cheap options at stores like Target and Hobby Lobby. Who doesn't love a high end look for cheap?! We found this marble and gold side table at Hobby Lobby for $48.99! Score!

Wood:

The next trend is wood. Yes wood. Just when you think it's going out, it comes back in, but of course in a new modern way.  These chairs were handed down from my uncle, and at first we were seriously thinking about painting them but instead we decided to give them a fresh look by adding these faux fur sheepskins to cover the old cushions. It gives it such a modern boho feel that we are totally loving!

The greens and brass candlesticks were from the thrift store and can totally look outdated but once placed on top of a new marble and gold table in a neutral colored room it becomes so stylish and on trend!
