With the Fourth of July being just around the corner we have been planning for a party at the Lake. Last year we had a festive family dinner and set the outdoor table in high style, you can see that post HERE for tablescape ideas.
This year we have invited a group of friends over to enjoy the evening with games, snacks a campfire and of course to watch fireworks. A nearby resort on our lake puts on an amazing firework show so we will all pile in the boat at dusk and float out to enjoy the show. But before the grand event we have set up a casual spot to gather and enjoy the evening.
At the lakeside we have a grouping of adirondack chairs in front of the fire pit, with comfy pillows in an assortment of red, white and blue for a festive touch! When decorating for the fourth all you really need is red white and blue anything! A little tip is to shop the dollar stores! You can find cute napkins, plates, and flags for obviously a very cheap price!
We have set up a tray for snacks and a s’more station. All you need is marshmallows for roasting, roasting sticks, chocolate bars and graham crackers. For additional munchies we’ve made a popcorn mix drizzled with chocolate and chocolate covered strawberries!
For drinks we always have water, pop, beer and wine on hand but this year we are planning on making a summer cocktail to share with our guests. Click HERE for the recipe!
For a fun floral centerpiece display we added flags into a vase with white daisy's. This is so simple while being so very festive!
Potted white and red flowers add to the ambiance!
To add some festive spirit to the dock we added nautical themed pillows, oar, and a fishing pole. We find the nautical theme to be very Fourth of July as it has the same colors, and of course because we are on the water!
Besides boating and water activities, one thing our family loves to do over the fourth is to play yard games! Whether its bocce ball or a good ol' fashion bean bag toss, we are having fun out in the yard! Here are some of our favorites to play!
