About

Hi and Welcome to our blog!

We are Kim and Lacey, a mother-daughter duo that love to decorate and style our own little world! We hunt for bargains, repurpose furniture, take on DIY projects, and tweak and style anything we get our hands on. We decided to start a blog to document all of the fun projects we do together and to share our passion with whoever wants to read! Together we wanted to create a site where people feel inspired to make their house a cozy place to come home to. We want people to know that they can do amazing things on a budget! No one should ever feel like they can't do something because they feel that they "aren't creative" enough or they are on a tight budget. We want to help you create a sanctuary for yourself where you feel like you can accomplish your dreams and pursue your passions. Having a cozy, zen-like space can help give you productivity and inspiration in your life! We believe that it all starts in the home :) So come along with us as we recreate your space into that ideal place that makes you feel like your true self!

Kim's Story:

Hi there! My name is Kim and I am the Mother of this mother-daughter duo. Before I say much I want to let you know I am a firm believer that you can get a high end look without paying high end prices, especially in today’s market with all the wonderful discount stores and online options, let alone the many fun antique, vintage and occasional shops around. In my home I like to mix new with old. I like the unique character that a few vintage pieces add to any space. I’ve always enjoyed antiquing, bargain hunting and doing DIY projects, even before it was the cool, trendy thing to do. I learned it from my mother. We used to always go to flea markets and garage sales hunting for treasures. My mom is also an amazing self taught sewer and crafter. She was making things before it was ever called “DIY”. She used to make my sister and I matching clothes when we were little. She even made me a ski jacket! Although I didn’t inherit her sewing skills I did acquire her passion for decorating without breaking the bank. Now my own daughters and I love to hunt for finds together. We like to find pieces that need a little love and redo them, usually with paint! Lacey and I have had fun decorating together through the years starting with her own bedroom, then dorm rooms, and apartments and now our own homes. We have also enjoyed helping friends and family decorate their spaces, all on a budget. This blog will chronicle some of our projects together and hopefully inspire others to make beautiful spaces without spending a fortune. Lacey and I are excited to share this new journey with you!

Lacey's Story:

Hi! So glad you are getting to know my mom and I! I'll have you know that ever since I can remember I have had a love for all things girly, artistic and anything aesthetically pleasing. I grew up with a mother who had a keen sense of style and an eye for design (just look at her home tour <3!) Over the years we have tackled numerous DIY projects, flea market shopping sprees, bedroom makeovers, staging friends homes etc etc.  It is because of my mom that I have fallen in love with home decorating, fashion, beauty and anything that let's my creative juices flow! And I think it's about time we share our passion with the world wide web!

In the Fall of 2014 my mom and I started thinking  about flipping a house. We wanted to gain a little experience and do what we love! However, in the midst of searching for a home to flip I got engaged to my high school sweetheart! My mom and I thought "why not find a home and remodel it for my future husband and I to live in after we get married!" In February of 2015 my husband (fiancé at the time) closed on our 1950's 2 story colonial style house. It was in desperate need of a makeover and we saw it's potential. This remodel definitely became one big family project. My mom and I were the designers and project managers while my hubby did a ton of demoing and handy work :)

The house was definitely stuck in the 1950s but with a weird "artistic" flare. While its previous owner found that mosaic tiling of the entire home was artistic and beautiful, it just was not our style, and so we got to work!  We demoed the entire main floor and majority of the upstairs. We reconfigured the layout of the main floor, and master bathroom/closet and had our ever so amazing and creative contractor help our vision come to life!  We worked on the renovation for nearly 7 months before moving in and we are still decorating and fixing up the little things..Still far from being done. ;) When it comes to being a decorator and DIYer, is a house ever finished? Never!

It was a long journey but my husband and I love living in our little colonial home and fixing it up a little more and more each day!

Go check out my home tour for some pretty crazy before and after pics!

Hope you found our site inspiring and we hope that you decide to also share your passion with the world!
